JAKARTA - Tencent Holdings, the Chinese internet giant, announced that it will launch an artificial intelligence-based chatbot (AI) on Thursday, September 7 as posted in their social media posts on Wednesday, September 6.

The post features demonstration conversations between users and AI chatbots that help users write promotional material.

This came after China began agreeing to launch an AI chatbot for the general public last month. Other major technology companies in China, including Baidu Inc and SenseTime Group, have released their AI chatbots last week.

Tencent has been developing their own AI model called "Hunyuan" for months, and the company announced last month that it was expanding testing the model internally.

Earlier, in February, Reuters reported that the company formed a team to develop a similar chatbot to a ChatGPT called "HunyuanAide." Tencent shares fell about 1% on Wednesday, trailing from a 0.5% drop in the market as a whole
