JAKARTA - The peace agreement with Iran includes the opening of the Strait of Hormuz and Iran's commitment not to acquire nuclear weapons, said US President Donald Trump, following the peace agreement reached by the US with Iran.
Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Sunday, "The Peace Deal between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran has been reached."
"Both parties have declared an immediate and permanent cessation of military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon," Prime Minister Sharif said in a social media post on Sunday night, CNN reported (15/6).
President Trump told The Wall Street Journal Sunday that any deal would be signed electronically by himself or Vice President JD Vance.
The president said the deal would include a commitment from Iran not to acquire nuclear weapons and the immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
"I think they want to get it done. This has never happened to them before," Trump told The Journal when asked about skepticism that Iran would agree.
PM Sharif said, "the official signing ceremony will be held on Friday, June 19 in Switzerland," while thanking Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey for their assistance in the "mediation efforts."
President Trump said the deal would include inspections, though he gave no details on how the inspections would be carried out.
He also suggested that sanctions relief could be considered while stressing that Iran would not accept cash.
"We'll see how they act," President Trump said.
"Regarding regime change, I have never cared about regime change. This is the third group we have faced, and this is the most rational group so far," he explained.
Regarding Iran's nuclear material, President Trump said, "We'll get to that nuclear dust later when we're ready to go in and do it," adding, "I think in a month or two, there's no rush," and described it as "harmless."
