JAKARTA - Google has begun to open access to its new language model, NotebookLM, which was first revealed on Google I/O 2023 as Project Tailwind.
NotebookLM can be buried to a group of files that users upload to Google Drive in other words, they can select the data that will be trained.
It can be in the form of notes from the class or various subject ingredients that have been provided. After the user has entered a set of documents, NotebookLM can summarize notes, answer specific questions and even produce new ideas.
Students or students are the main demographic target of NotebookLM, but this tool also has the potential to be useful for professionals.
"This is an interesting product, created to take advantage of the potential language model coupled with your existing content to get insight quickly," Google said in its official blog, quoted Thursday, July 13.
"Think of it as having a virtual research assistant who is ready to help you to summarize the facts, explain complicated concepts, and do a new connection brainstorming, all based on the sources you choose," he added.

To avoid mistakes or hallucinations in NotebookLM, Google completes each response with a quote, highlighting the relevant original quotes from the source so that users can check the facts from where the information came from.
In addition, the company insists that interactions with AI, as well as user files will remain private, and the data collected is not used to train new AI models.
"The privacy and security of your data is considered a top priority and with this kind of tool, Google needs to stick to this kind of standard," Google explained.
Unfortunately, Google is launching this tool globally only available to a small group of testers in the United States (US).
NotebookLM will be gradually available to people who register for Project Tailwind's initial access program via Google Labs.
