Marselino Ferdinand's Message To Indonesian National Team Supporters: Don't Slow Euphoria

Marselino Ferdinand asked the supporters and players of the Indonesian national team not to get involved in the euphoria of victory over Saudi Arabia (VOI/Ferry Tri Adi Sasono).

JAKARTA - The Indonesian national team striker, Marselino Ferdinand, gave an important message after helping the squad win over Saudi Arabia.

Marselino reminded supporters and all elements in the team not to get caught up in the euphoria.

Marselino Ferdinand became the player who helped the Indonesian national team to get their first three points in the Third Round of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers.

In the match which took place at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK), Tuesday, November 19, 2024, the Indonesian national team won 2-0 over Saudi Arabia thanks to Marselino's brace.

In addition to being the first victory in the Third Round of the 2026 World Cup Qualification, this result is also the first victory of the Indonesian national team over Saudi Arabia in history.

Obviously, this moment deserves to be grateful and enjoyed. However, according to Marselino, it is better for the community not to be too late because the struggle is still long.

"I want to mention (reminding) supporters, don't drag on in the euphoria. We will maximize the remaining matches so that they can qualify for the 2026 World Cup," Marselino said during a press conference after the match at SUGBK.

Regarding the two goals against Saudi Arabia, the Oxford United player admits that he always has a feeling of scoring goals in every game as an effort to build mentality.

"Fistration of scoring goals? Every game there is also, really, a feeling. However, I also pray and try, and others. Then, I can score goals because of the hard work of other players as well," he said.

"Then, coach Shin Tae-yong's tactical instructions also helped me. We players played well against Saudi Arabia," said the number seven user.

From this victory, the Indonesian national team temporarily ranked third in Group C with six points.

The Garuda squad still has four remaining matches in the Third Round of 2026 World Cup Qualifiers. They will face Australia and Bahrain in March 2025 on away and home status.

The other two matches are hosting China and traveling to Japan's headquarters in June 2025.
