JAKARTA - Meta Platform Inc. has launched the ability to all Instagram users to reply to comments using GIF, instead of using only text or emoji.

This announcement was first shared by the Head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri while chatting with Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg via his recent Instagram Channel.

"It's a bit of a 'final' feature but we launched the GIF in today's comments," Mosseri said while telling his boss on the Instagram channel, quoted Wednesday, May 17.

Prior to this update, Instagram only allowed users to reply using text or emoji, while GIF could only be posted as a reply to Stories.

To reply with GIFs on Instagram, users need to tap the comment button under the post and then press the 'GIF' button to the right of the comment column.

After pressing the GIF button, users can search for the corresponding GIF from the wide Instagram library. After finding a suitable GIF, tap the GIF, and press the Send button, such as sending comments in general.

In fact, this feature has been launched since February 2023, however, this feature is only available to a handful of users worldwide, so it may take a while before it is launched to all users anywhere.

But now, you can try replying to messages with GIF. If you don't find the GIF button next to the comment column, maybe you should update Instagram to the latest version.
