JAKARTA - Meta Platforms Inc, a social media giant that owns Facebook and Instagram, announced on Thursday 11 May that it will begin testing artificial intelligence (AI)-based advertising tools that can create content such as image backgrounds and written text variations.
A number of advertisers will be invited to try the tool in the "AI Sandbox", which is a test site to be launched by Meta.
The company's executives say that the number of advertisers to be invited at this time is still small and the amount has not been disclosed. Meta plans to give more advertisers access in July and integrate some features into public advertising products by the end of the year.

This announcement marks Meta's debut in presenting products that use AI's generating technology, which leverages past data to generate new content such as pros, art, and software code.
This technology has become very popular and has attracted the interest of many investors after Microsoft supported the OpenAI startup which launched the ChatGPT chatbot last fall.
The Meta announcement comes just a day after Meta's biggest competitor in digital advertising, Alphabet's Google, said it would start offering the integration of this technology in search, email and photoproducts.
