JAKARTA - Turkish Airlines managed to set a world record as the airline with the most destination countries, along with the opening of flights to Chile.
The airline based in Istanbul, Turkey managed to record the Guinness World Record "Most Countries Flown to by an Airline".
"We are officially recognized by Guinness World Records for the Most Countries Flown to by an Airline title," the airline tweeted on social media X on Friday, December 20.
This prestigious record was passed at Arturo Merino International Airport Ben Marijudtez Santiago, along with the opening of the inaugural flight to Chile, quoted by the Daily Sabah.
With the addition of this new route, the total Turkish Airlines is now operating in 131 countries, including 120 active routes last year, as verified by Guinness World Records.
Turkish Airlines CEO Bilal Ekhi expressed his pride for this achievement.
"It is an honor to accept this recognition here at the Santiago, a testament to our mission to connect people, culture and goals around the world," he said.
Meanwhile, Guinness World Records official Talal Omar praised Turkish Airlines for his vision of representing this achievement as evidence of Turkish Airlines' global significance in the world of aviation.
