Reddit Stops Live Audio Chat Features Similar To Clubhouse

JAKARTA - After debuting two years ago, Reddit announced that it will soon discontinue its live audio chat service, Reddit Talk in the coming weeks.

However, the company did not carelessly turn off this feature due to a lack of interest. Reddit also still sees the audio feature as part of its future.

However, according to the company's announcement, the Reddit Talk shutdown was carried out as they were trying to focus on other priorities, especially better infrastructure development.

"There is important work we need to do, such as making Reddit simpler and building better subreddit infrastructure, before entering audio," wrote Reddit.

However, Reddit insists that any discussions that take place after September 1 last year will be available for download from March 21, and you have until June 1 to get a copy of the recording.

While Reddit will turn off its Reddit Talk, it turns out that Reddit will also turn off another feature on March 21, namely the Happening Now experiment. This feature allows users to view on-going Direct Chats and Reddit Talks on subreddits they follow, which also highlights the popular conversations that occur across platforms.
