JAKARTA - When attending a meeting, sometimes we miss the material or information presented, to prevent this, Google is now presenting automatic transcripts on its Meet video conferencing service.

In Meet, users can already save meeting calls as video files and now Google is adding an automatic transcript feature to ease the work of users who like to record material during meetings.

Meet's auto-transcript feature is now available in English, with support for French, German, Spanish and Portuguese coming in 2023.

Google says the transcription feature will also allow Meet to offer analytics and other features based on these recordings, but for now, the company hasn't launched any of those.

Cited from TechCrunch, Wednesday, October 12, Google is not a pioneer of the transcript feature, first Microsoft Teams more than a year ago has offered a similar feature in English.

In addition to the transcript, Google also announced that Meet companion mode now works on mobile devices and users with AI-powered cameras from Huddly and Logitech can now use adaptive framing so the speaker icon is always positioned properly in the frame.

Two other useful Meet features are also rumored to be arriving in early 2023. One of them is meeting room check-in. which will allow the user to see a list of all participants. Google will also start displaying the names of multiple people who join a meeting from the same physical conference room.

Lastly, Google Chat is also getting some new features like custom emojis, one-way broadcast rooms to spread information across teams or companies without having to worry about inappropriate comments and inline threaded conversations.
