JAKARTA - Reels is a feature on Instagram that is similar to TikTok which was released in Indonesia in June 2022. Reels allows users to create short 15-second videos with a wide selection of audio, effects, and other creative tools.

On Tuesday, July 19, Instagram announced that businesses can now leverage their Reels within the app to turn them into ads and provide businesses with the opportunity to reach new audiences and drive more engagement, more viewers.

According to an announcement from the company, Boost Reels will appear in the feed, Stories, Reels tab, and also in the explore tab. However, to do Boost Reels, make sure your post meets some conditions first.

First, your Reels must be less than 60 seconds and have an aspect ratio of 9:16, that is, the video position is vertical and has a full-screen format. It should be noted that Reels that use third-party IP such as copyrighted music, GIFs, interactive stickers or camera filters within Reels are not eligible for a boost.

Business instagram users can boost Reels in your profile grid and tap Boost Post. After upgrading your Reels, make sure you keep adding insight to reach a bigger audience.

“Keep increasing your scrolls to connect with your audience and attract new potential customers,” Instagram said in its blog post.

According to TechCrunch, the launch of the new feature comes as Meta has bet big on Reels. In Q1 2022, the company revealed that Reels now makes up more than 20% of users' time spent on Instagram.
