Appointed As A Suspect, PDIP Secretary General Declares Ready To Face Legal Process At The KPK

PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto stated that he was ready to face the ongoing legal process at the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) after being named a suspect in the Harun Masiku case. PDIP has also expressed its attitude and respects the decision of the KPK.

"We are a law-abiding citizen. The PDI-P is a party that upholds the rule of law. From the start, when I criticized how democracy must be enforced, how the voices of the people cannot be castrated, how the rule of law cannot be turned off, and how the eyes of authoritarian power, who oppress the people themselves must be stopped, I already understand the various risks that I will face," said Hasto in his statement, Thursday, December 26.

As a student of Bung Karno, Hasto said he followed what was written in Cindy Adams' book. "This is my struggle book. And all PDI-P cadres are now entering the stage of chapter 9. Where Bung Karno when establishing the PNI, the principle he holds is non-cooperation. For the sake of the ideals of Indonesia's Merdeka, for the sake of the sovereign people, can be united, gather, and express his opinion, then prison is also a way and part of sacrifice to ideals," he said.

"Those are the values fought for by all PDI-P cadres," continued Hasto.

Hasto then mentioned the figure who was thirsty for power was behind his determination as a suspect. The figure is suspected to be the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo. The reason is, Jokowi some time ago was fired by PDIP because he was considered to have violated the party's statutes/articles, one of which was participating in a joke in the election.

"When various intimidation arises, so that there is no dismissal of a person who has ambitions for power so that the constitution seems to want to be violated by extending the three-term term, or extending the term of office, for the sake of the constitution, Mrs. Mega firmly stands to maintain democracy," explained Hasto.

"And when law enforcement officers are used at all costs to intimidate, state resources are used for practical political interests, then the choice to face a thick wall of power must be carried out by PDI-P cadres," he continued.

Therefore, Hasto emphasized that he is ready to undergo a legal process for the values of the struggle and sovereignty of democracy and to build a just rule of law.

"We will never give up. Whether we want to use a formal intimidation process, or in ways that are not formal, we have prepared the worst risks. Because as was done by Bung Karno, going to prison is part of the sacrifice of our dreams," said Hasto.

"Never be afraid to voice the truth. We guard the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle. We protect the dignity of the Chairperson of the PDI-P from various efforts that want to undermine the dignity and authority of the party only because of the ambition of power," he added.

Hasto added that PDIP is a legitimate party. Therefore, as the PNI cadres said when facing a hanging sentence in Ciamis, just because they played Merdeka, Merdeka, Merdeka greetings during the Dutch era, they headed for a hanger with a smiling mouth and an upright head.

"Let's, for the sake of fighting for our ideals, for the values we stand for, any risk, we are ready to face with our heads held high and our mouths smiling," he concluded.
