JAKARTA - Microsoft is adding Discord voice chat capabilities to Xbox Insiders starting Wednesday, July 20 on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One consoles.

Discord Voice capability on Xbox allows you to make group voice calls while playing games to more easily connect with your friends whether on mobile, Xbox, or PC.

"When you play on your console, you'll be able to see who's calling and talking," said Eric Voreis, principal program manager for Xbox player experiences and platforms in the announcement.

Using this feature is quite complicated, you have to do some steps first. First, you'll need to download the Xbox mobile app, as you'll be using your phone to transfer Discord calls to Xbox.

Then, you'll need to connect your Xbox account to your Discord account. If you have connected before, the instructions state that you must do it again to receive new voice permissions.

Once done, if you want to talk to your Discord friends on Xbox, you can start a call on Discord > press the transfer to Xbox button > select Xbox console in the Xbox mobile app > done.

You can also initiate the transfer from Discord on the desktop or the web, and a QR code will be displayed that opens the Xbox mobile app.

This update will start rolling out for

Xbox Insiders and will expand to more users in the coming weeks.

This step has previously been done by Sony. Through its messaging platform PlayStation Network, PS 4 and 5 players can link their Discord and PlayStation Network accounts.
