Papua PON Is Guaranteed To Be Safe From KKB Terror

JAKARTA - The Grand Committee for the XX Papua National Sports Week (PB PON) guarantees that the four-year multievent on Cenderawasih Earth will run safely and be free from the threat of armed criminal groups (KKB).

PB PON General Secretary Elia Loupatty said the National Army-National Police (TNI-Polri) from the Cendrawasih Regional Military Command and the Papua Regional Police would jump directly to secure the Papua PON contingent from the moment they got off the plane.

"For security, we trust the TNI and Polri. The Pangdam and Kapolda have guaranteed that the PON will be safe. Governor Lukas Enembe has also guaranteed safety, ”said Elia Loupatty as quoted by Antara, Thursday, April 29.

Regarding the KKB, Elia said that the terror was far from the location of the Papua PON. Therefore, his party invited all participants not to be afraid to come for the success of PON. The success of Papua PON, according to him, will be a moment of awakening Indonesia through the COVID-19 pandemic. Apart from TNI-Polri personnel, Chairman II PB PON Roy Letlora added that the security of Papua PON will also involve local youth.

These youths were made volunteers to help secure the PON Papua performance in four clusters, namely Jayapura City, Jayapura Regency, Mimika Regency, and Merauke Regency.

"The HR Division has recruited all young people to maintain security there, so this security is due to persuasion and kinship," said Roy.

PON Papua will be held on 2-15 October. The committee is still completing the preparation of its health protocol guidelines.

In accordance with President Joko Widodo's instructions, the people around the PON Papua match venue have gradually started receiving the COVID-19 vaccine.
