H-4 Christmas Day, 4,087 People Use Ships Leaving Manokwari

JAKARTA - The Class IV Port Authority and Port Authority (KSOP) Manokwari recorded 4,087 people leaving their territory, West Papua, using ships on D-4 Christmas 2024.

Acting Head of KSOP Manokwari I Wayan Guntur Winaya said the data was obtained from the Christmas and New Year sea transportation posts at Manokwari Port operating from 18 December 2024 to 8 January 2025.

"Based on post data for four days 18-21 December 2024, 4,087 people left Manokwari using five ships," he said in Manokwari, Saturday, December 21, which was confiscated by Antara.

He said, during that date, 1,806 people disembarked at Manokwari Port using six ships.

The peak of the flow of Christmas and New Year's homecoming at Manokwari Port occurred on 21-22 Manokwari because on that date the last two passenger ships of PT Pelni docked at Manokwari Port, namely KM Labobar and KM Ciremai.

"Today KM Labobar brought 706 passengers down and 2,258 passengers boarded. Meanwhile, tomorrow there is KM Ciremai heading west, namely Sorong," he said.

He said that until D-4 Christmas, the condition of thembarkation at Manokwari Port was safe and conducive and there were no prominent incidents.

The existence of a sea transportation post helps create smooth, security and comfort for sea transportation passengers.

Posko members consist of various institutions such as KSOP, Pelni, Pelindo, Manokwari Port Health Office (KKP), Basarnas, TNI-Polri.

"Everything is in charge according to their respective duties and functions. For example, the KKP functions to provide health checks for passengers so that they can board ships in good condition. The command post is also provided with information on the arrival and departure of ships in real time," he said
