Confirming That The Coach In Lieu Of Shin Tae-yong Came From The Netherlands, Erick Thohir Did Not Deny The Name Of Kluiver

JAKARTA - The General Chairperson (Ketum) of PSSI, Erick Thohir, confirmed that the replacement for Shin Tae-yong to lead the Indonesian national team was a coach from the Netherlands. When asked about Patrick Kluivert, he did not deny it.

On Monday, January 6, 2025, PSSI officially ended its cooperation contract with Shin Tae-yong as the coach of the Indonesian national team. Before it was officially announced, the issue of Shin's dismissal had indeed been widely circulated.

At the same time, there were also the names of replacement coaches. The figure of the coach from the Netherlands is so strong. Regarding the news that the coach from the Netherlands, Erick Thohir did justify this.

"It (the new coach) is from Europe, the country is from the Netherlands," said Erick Thohir in an official statement in Central Jakarta on Monday, January 6, 2025, afternoon WIB.

From the series of names of coaches from the Netherlands who are predicted to be Shin Tae-yong's replacement, the name Patrick Kluivert is the most widespread.

When asked about the former Dutch National Team player's chance to deal with Indonesia, Erick Thohir did not deny it.

"For the interviewed coaches, there were indeed three names at that time. Here are some assistants as accompanying coach options because we believe there is no perfect coach. Surely each coach has shortcomings," he said about the question of Kluivert being one of the candidates for coach of the Indonesian national team.

"Indeed, one of the candidates I interviewed whose name was mentioned earlier (Patrick Kluiver)," he said.

Even so, Erick Thohir still doesn't want to explain clearly who the next person will be.

Instead, he emphasized that the introduction of this new coach will be carried out on January 12, 2025.

"The new coach on 11 (January 2025) will come later on 12 (January 2025) we will hold a press conference with the media. So, later it will be open to questions," said Erick Thohir.
