Two Women's Doubles Overhauled At Indonesia International Challenge 2024

Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti was overhauled, no longer paired with Apriyani Rahayu (doc. PBSI).

JAKARTA The Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) decided to overhaul two women's doubles to appear at the Indonesia International Challenge 2024.

The two pairs in question are Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti partnering with Lanny Tria Mayasari and Rachel Alllessya Rose paired up with Kelly Larissa.

These pairs will debut in the tournament which will take place on 22-27 October 2024 at East Java Expo, Surabaya, East Java. Indonesia has a total of 82 players who will play.

"Hopefully this tournament will be an inspiration to continue to bring up talented athletes," said the Chairperson of the Organizing Committee, Armand Darmadji, in a statement received from PBSI.

Fadia was previously paired with Tokyo 2020 Olympic gold medalist Apriyani Rahayu. However, they have not competed again since the 2024 Paris Olympics due to Apri's unsuitable condition.

Meanwhile, Rachel was previously paired with Lanny Tria Mayasari. Rachel/Lanny last played together at the 2024 China Taipei Open, where they ran aground in the second half.

In addition to the debut of the two pairs above, this tournament was also attended by a number of names defending Indonesia at the 2024 Junior World Championships in China this month.

They are Mohammad Zaki Ubaidillah, Bismo Raya Oktora, Mutiara Ayu Puspitasari, to Isyana Syahira Meida/Rinjani Kwinara Nastine. These names helped Indonesia come out to become champions at that time.

In addition, there is also the doubles pair Yeremia Erich Yoche Yacob Rambitan/Rahmat Hidayat. The world number 61 pair was paired earlier this year.

"We certainly want to be champions. With the preparation we do, we try to give our best in every match," said Rahmat.

In total, the Indonesia International Challenge 2024 was attended by 233 players from 19 countries, including Indonesia as the host.

The participating countries are Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Cyprus, Egypt, France, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Myanmar, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, Thailand, China Taipei, the United States, and Zambia.
