The Budget For The Program Of 3 Million Less Houses, Minister Of PKP Explores Opportunities For Cooperation With The World Bank

JAKARTA - Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait (Ara) held a meeting with the World Bank delegation. The meeting discussed loan and financing support to support the program of 3 million houses.

According to Ara, the PKP Ministry's budget of IDR 5.2 trillion is not enough to finance the 3 million house program launched by President Prabowo Subianto. Therefore, he said other sources of funding were needed outside the state budget.

"So we have to combine between technical and strategic to achieve the target (3 million houses)," he said in an official statement, Sunday, December 15.

According to Ara, if the Ministry of PKP only relies on the APBN, it will only be able to build 300,000 houses from the target of 3 million houses.

Moreover, said Ara, the Ministry of PKP is not only a technical but also strategic ministry, so innovative steps are needed that combine technical aspects and strategic plans.

"Because if it is technical, we will fail because based on the budget we are only able to build less than 300,000 houses, while our target from the President is three million houses," he said.

Meanwhile, the Country Director for Indonesia and Timor-Leste, East Asia and Pacific World Bank Juli Turk said that the form of World Bank support that can be provided is loans or capital.

In addition, said Juli, this cooperation plan also includes analytical work in an effort to resolve and consolidate all data issues, both collection, assessment, and in formulating relevant questions to answer various issues to realize the targets that have been given.

"This analytical work also includes the preparation and determination of targets and targets for beneficiaries of this program. In addition, it is also analytic in the preparation of the system, because when there is a decentralization process that also involves local governments, there is a system for monitoring and evaluation processes in its implementation," he said.

Regarding efforts to realize the 3 million home program, folis assessed that it is very important to involve all stakeholder elements, both in the public sector, private sector, domestic business and international business.
