Responding To Referee Leadership In Match Against PSM Makassar, Persik Kediri Sends Letter To PSSI

Persik Kediri questioned the referee's leadership in the match against PSM Makassar (Instagram/@psm_makassar).

JAKARTA - The controversy that occurred in the match of Persik Kediri vs PSM Makassar made the management of the White Tigers as the host send a letter to PSSI.

This was done in response to the referee's leadership in the match which was allegedly negligent, causing losses to both teams.

"Persik Kediri regrets the negligence committed by the referee. This indecisiveness caused losses in both teams, both Persik Kediri and PSM Makassar, as well as quality," said Persik Kediri Manager Muhammad Syahid Nur Ichsan, in a statement quoted on Tuesday, December 19, 2023.

The controversy occurred because of confusion on the ground. This was triggered by the leadership of the referee which was allegedly not firm.

In the match at the Brawijaya Stadium, PSM Makassar first scored in the 86th minute, but the goal made by Yuran Fernandes was evacuated.

In the 87th minute the match was stopped due to the referee's indecisiveness related to Yuran's goal incident.

In the next minute, PSM strongly protested to the assistant referee one which was followed by the decision of the main referee to ratify Juku Eja's goal. The decision invited PSM players to celebrate excessively.

The action then triggered the occurrence of throwing each other between PSM players and Persik supporters. Conditions had returned to conducive, but the assistant referee one ran away from the field which had an impact on stopping the match for quite a long time.

At the time the match was temporarily suspended, the match equipment coordinated in the dressing room which was attended by security forces, the organizing committee, and match equipment.

The discussions lasted more than 30 minutes and it was decided that both teams agreed to continue the match.

The situation that occurred because of the referee's indecisiveness was considered detrimental to both clubs in terms of playing time and making a bad image.

You see, various wild opinions have emerged that injure the image of national football. Therefore, Persik was firm in writing to PSSI to respond to the situation.

"This is to maintain the spirit of the highest competition in the country," continued Persik Kediri's manager in his statement.

Furthermore, Persik management also mentioned that so far the team has always tried to be good hosts.

However, this incident is quite worrying regarding the good image that has been sought so far.

"Persik has always been a good host for any club competing at Brawijaya Stadium, Kediri."

"Here has been a witness for the peace and family sense presented by Persik Mania, to whoever is the supporters of the opposing team, the opposing team, and the match equipment. The incident alone left a bad image," concluded Muhammad Syahid Nur Ichsan.
