Rashford Returns To Manchester United Squad Against Newcastle

Marcus Rashford is back on the Manchester United (Instagram/@manchesterunited) list.

JAKARTA - Marcus Rashford returned to the Manchester United squad list after missing four games.

The forward was put on the bench by Ruben Amorim, but was not played in the 0-2 defeat at home to Newcastle United at Old Trafford, Monday, December 31, 2024, early morning WIB.

The 27-year-old last featured for the Red Devils in a 2-1 win over Viktoria Plzen in the Europa League on December 12, 2024.

He was then crossed out of the squad list when he won over Manchester City on December 15, 2024.

Amoritism stated that the decision was based on the England international's performance in training.

He was also absent when Manchester United lost to Tottenham Hotspur, Bournemouth, and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Days after being dropped from the squad to face Manchester City at Etihad, Rashford said he wanted to leave the club.

He said the timing was right for a new challenge and although Amorim insisted on Rashford staying at Old Trafford.

Rashford's return has strengthened the Amorism squad considering Bruno Fernandes and Manuel Ugarte were suspended for the match against Newcastle.

Fernandes was sent off during a 2-0 loss to Wolves on Boxing Day, while Ugarte got his fifth yellow card this season at Molineux.

"Selection and we had a lot of players on the outside so he came in. As I said every week, I chose my players. He was there to be selected. This time, he was here," Amorim said of Rashford to Sky Sports.

Since Manchester United was handled by Ruben Amorim, Rashford has not found a place. He only played once full when the Red Devils won 4-0 against Everton on December 1, 2024.
