Swansea City's Naturalization Process Runs Smoothly, STY: This Team Is Actually OK, But...

JAKARTA The Indonesian national team (Timnas) coach Shin Tae-yong confirmed that the naturalization process for Swansea City's player Nathan Tjoe-A-On went smoothly.

The player who plays as a defender wants this Korean coach to be in his squad. Therefore, PSSI has started the naturalization process to increase the strength of the Garuda squad.

"As far as I know, the player's naturalization process went smoothly," Shin said after leading the first training for the Indonesian national team to prepare for the 2026 World Cup Qualification against Brunei, Monday, October 9.

However, the development related to the naturalization process is not widely known by the 52-year-old coach.

"But honestly, my own administrative problems do not know the extent. So we meet with Mr. Ketum after that, it will be announced to the media," said Shin.

Since training the Indonesian national team, Shin Tae-yong has ordered PSSI to naturalize several players. Some of them have also defended Garuda.

Shin said, even though the squad is currently okay, the naturalization process is still needed. This is done in order to achieve the big targets of the Indonesian national team.

"Indeed, the current squad is good and has achievements, okay, but in the future, so that achievements will be even better, so as much as possible it will need to add to the naturalization players," he said.

Shin Tae-yong will lead his squad against Brunei Darussalam in the 2026 World Cup Qualification at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium, Thursday, October 12.

Five days later the Indonesian national team will play an away match to Brunei. If able to stop Brunei, the Garuda Indonesia squad will qualify for the second round of qualifying.
