BPOM Free to Issue Edar Izin UMK Food Processed, Partner with APKLI-P to Control Prabowo President Program

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) has officially partnered with the Five-Foot-Trader Association for Struggle (APKLI-P) as a strategic partner in accelerating the registration of distribution permits for processed food Micro and Small Enterprises (UMK). This step is also taken to support the supervision of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program and the Red and White Village / Village Cooperative (KDKMP) according to the instructions of President Prabowo Subianto.

Based on data from BPOM RI, out of a total of 64.5 million MSMEs in Indonesia, there are around 4.2 million UMKs that operate in the processed food sector. However, to date, only around 1.6 million businesses have obtained official distribution permits.

The Head of BPOM RI, Prof. dr. Taruna Ikrar, M.Biomed., Ph.D., emphasized that the BPOM is now free of charge for registration of distribution permits for processed food UMK to provide real fairness to the small people's economy.

"This policy is a form of real government bias. This requires acceleration and expansion of service coverage, especially in the supervision of the MBG and KDKMP programs to realize President Prabowo's direction. Therefore, we hope to work together, synergize, and collaborate with APKLI-P throughout the country," said Prof. Taruna when receiving an audience with the APKLI-P ranks at the BPOM Garuda Building, Jakarta, Tuesday (28/6/2026).

The former General Chair of the HMI Ujungpandang Branch (Makassar) is also confirmed to be present as a keynote speaker at the National Seminar of the VI APKLI-P National Congress on August 25, 2026. The event is also coupled with the signing of an official cooperation agreement between the BPOM RI and APKLI-P.

The Chairman of APKLI-P, dr. Ali Mahsun ATMO, M.Biomed., expressed deep appreciation for the political will of the Head of BPOM RI in embracing street vendors and small business actors.

"We fully support the policy of the Indonesian Food and Drug Agency in realizing President Prabowo's direction because it is clearly in favor of the small people's economy. We thank the approval of the Head of the BPOM who is ready to be the keynote speaker at the VI APKLI-P 2026 Congress. Matur nuwun sanget," said dr. Ali Mahsun.

In the meeting, Dr. Ali Mahsun was accompanied by the central management of APKLI-P, including Waketum Meihadir Ahmad, M. Zahruddin, and Ahlan Elfaz; Honorary Chairman Situmorang; and Wasekjen Ilham Yulianto, Imam Hipa Usra, and Sahono Suryadi.
