Official! Kick Off Liga 2 Indonesia Starting September 10, 2023

JAKARTA The Indonesian League 2 season 2023/2024 will officially take place on September 10, 2023. A total of seven matches will be held on the first day of the competition.

Certainty regarding kick-off or kick-off was announced by PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB) at a press conference at Pegadaian Headquarters, Jakarta, Tuesday, September 5, 2023.

LIB President Ferry Paulus said that the opening of Liga 2 Indonesia 2023/2024 will take place before kick off the match between Persela Lamongan and Persija Jepara at the Surajaya Stadium.

"After a long time, Liga 2 had stopped, but today it was really launched. We will open it in Lamongan," said Ferry Paulus.

"League 2 will be followed by 28 clubs throughout Indonesia with a total match of 260. The match will start on September 10 to March 9, 2024," he added.

Of the seven matches held on the first day, four of them will kick off simultaneously at 15.00 WIB. Meanwhile, three other matches were held at different times.

Central Kalimantan Putra against Persipura Jayapura, Sriwijaya FC against Sada North Sumatra FC, PSCK Cimahi against Malut United FC, and Gresik United against Persekat Tegal are four matches that kick off at 15.00 WIB.

Meanwhile, Semen Padang FC met PSDS Deli Serdang to kick off at 15.15. Meanwhile, Persela Lamongan met Persijap Jepara, which became the opening location, which would kick off at 15.30 WIB

Another match is Persiba Balikpapan vs North Sulawesi United. The duel between the two teams will take place at 18.00 WIB.

For this year, the Indonesian League 2 match will take place like the last format proposed by LIB to PSSI. The format is that all contestants are divided into four groups.

Each of these groups will be filled by seven participating teams. Later the top three in each group will move to the top 12.

Meanwhile, the remaining 16 are in four groups. The lowest ranking of each group, deaths or degradation. So, a total of eight teams will be relegated.

The teams that qualify for the round of 12 will return to the match. They will be divided into three groups where the group winners along with the best runners-up enter the semi-finals.

Meanwhile, 16 teams that are not included in the top 12 will compete for their status in League 2 or relegated to League 3.

For this season, Liga 2 will also implement regulations for two foreign players for each club. This was taken after discussing with all the bottom second-tier competition clubs.
