Taxi Driver's Mistakes Causing Venus Williams To Cancel Retirement

JAKARTA - Venus Williams is a tennis legend who is currently still active at the professional level. Even though she is 43 years old, Venus can still compete with younger tennis players.

Venus actually thought about retiring after being hit by a hamstring injury. But failed to do so because of a funny incident.

Her latest comeback from injury was inspired by a taxi driver who made mistake in Paris. It happened while she was taking a break to recover mentally, even before starting her physio rehabilitation.

Venus said the driver made a wrong turn and ended up driving past Roland Garros, the venue for the French Open. When passing through that place, she also changed her course by continuing to fight to get back fit.

She then approached a field there and looked for equipment to then try to train again.

"I was in Paris, and I was really looking for a racket. Serena had a place there, and I looked and looked and looked and looked, and finally I found a racket," Venus said, quoted by The Sun.

"I found a shoe that had the sole removed. I put the shoe on. A shoe that was too big, with one racket, and I was trying to find a bond. I was like, 'Okay, I'm ready to do some more rehab,'" she continued.

The sister of Serena Williams received a wildcard for Wimbledon this year. But the 2000, 2001, 2005, 2007 and 2008 champion lost in the first round to Ukraine's Elina Svitolina after falling in the first set.

The American tennis player screamed in pain as she fell. Venus also refused to shake the referee's hand after the controversial match point decision.

Venus is now hoping to be fit again to appear as a wildcard at the US Open, next week.

"Unfortunately, my knee isn't working very well. It's not helping me out on the court at the moment. It's really sad, but I'm going to work on myself, try to sort myself out, so I can be at the US Open, as well, hopefully , come and play in Cleveland next year," she said.
