JAKARTA - The Indonesian contingent is ready to fight against the Cambodia 2023 ASEAN Para Games. This event is a warm-up event for a bigger event.
The 2023 ASEAN Para Games can be a provision for Indonesian athletes to look at the 2023 Asian Para Games and Paris 2024 Paralympics.
The Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Dito Ariotedjo hopes that Indonesian paralympic athletes who are fighting in the upcoming multi-branch event can reap the best achievements in Cambodia.
"The national sports achievement paradigm has an achievement target at Paralympics or Paralympics. This means that we will make the ASEAN Para Games and Asian Para Games multi-events a target for the upcoming Paralympics (Paris)," said the Menpora.
According to the Minister of Youth and Sports, the results of achievements in ASEAN and Asian Para Games will be a determining factor to be able to advance to the highest Paralympic event.
"Then fight, compete as much as possible to uphold sportsmanship. Because the results of the ASEAN and Asian Para Games can be a benchmark for the struggle towards the upcoming paralympics," Dito said, as quoted from the official website of the Ministry of Youth and Sports via Antara, Tuesday, May 30.
Furthermore, the Minister of Youth and Sports assessed that throughout Indonesia's history, the Red and White contingent had always received proud results, so the target to become the overall champion of the ASEAN Para Games was always in sight.

"The experience of the Cambodian SEA Games is indeed the host of many injustices, but I have conveyed it so that it does not dampen our enthusiasm to keep fighting and hopefully the spirit will be higher," explained Dito.
"Preparing for the implementation of this APG, Cambodia borrows many assets and equipment from Indonesia because Indonesia is considered the most prepared country in the development of disabled athletes," he continued.
The Cambodian 2023 ASEAN Para Games will be held from June 3 to 9. In this 12th edition, the Garuda Squad sent 286 athletes by participating in 12 sports.
Meanwhile, the total number of members of the Indonesian contingent who were sent to Cambodia was 500 people.
The medal target includes 121 medals, 92 medals in silver, and 84 medals in bronze.
