Shin Tae-yong Will Form The Indonesian National Team To Face Argentina Starting June 5

JAKARTA The Indonesian national team will play two FIFA Matchday matches in June. In addition to facing Palestine on June 16, the Garuda squad will also appear against Argentina, the following three days.

The coach of the Indonesian national team, Shin Tae-yong, has confirmed that he will prepare his squad to face FIFA Matchday starting June 5. He admitted that he was happy that the Red and White team finally got a commensurate opponent.

"I am happy that the national team got two opponents commensurately in FIFA matchday. This is important to test Indonesia's strength," said the Korean coach as quoted by PSSI's official website.

Please note, the match against Palestine will take place at the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium, Surabaya. Meanwhile, the duel against Argentina will be held at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK), Jakarta.

Shin Tae-yong has already called a number of players, both those who play abroad and domestically. The clubs whose players are called have no reason not to release their players because this is FIFA Matchday.

"Palestinian team kuat. Apalagi Argentina, juara dunia dan banyak pemain star di squad itu. Saya juga ucapkan terima kasih kepada Pak Erick Thohir akhir akhir bisa mendatangkan tim Argentina. Luar biasa Pak Erick," ujar Shin.

Argentina is certain to come with its best strength. That means there is a high possibility that their star Lionel Messi will join the group to Jakarta.

The duel against Argentina is clearly a golden opportunity for Indonesia to test its strength. Moreover, this year, the Indonesian national team will be busy with various activities.

After fighting Palestine and Argentina, FIFA Matchday will be held again on September 4-12 2023. Then after that, Indonesia will take part in the first round of the Asian zone 2026 World Cup qualifiers on October 9-17, 2023.

If successfully qualifying from the first round, Indonesia will advance to the second round of the 2026 World Cup Qualification in the Asian zone on 16-21 November 2023. Furthermore, Indonesia will participate in the 2023 Asian Cup Qatar on 12 January-10 February 2023.
