JAKARTA - The implementation of the 2026 School Environment Introduction Period (MPLS) officially began simultaneously with the 2026/2027 school year, Monday, July 13. The momentum was used by the government to strengthen child protection from bullying and various forms of violence through the launch of the National Movement for Safe and Comfortable Children's Space (Gernas Rana).

Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) Pratikno emphasized that every child has the right to feel safe during the education process. According to him, child protection must be realized together in the family, school, public spaces, and digital spaces.
"You all have the right to be in a safe and comfortable environment. If you see or experience violence, don't hesitate to report it to teachers and parents. We must work together to keep schools a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable place to learn," said Pratikno.
The Minister of Basic and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen) Abdul Mu'ti said the implementation of the 2026 Ramah MPLS was the first step in building a school culture that is free from violence and bullying.
According to him, the government has strengthened the policy through the Regulation of the Minister of Education and Culture Number 6 of 2026 which began to be implemented at the beginning of the new school year.
"Through the National Movement for Safe and Comfortable Space for Children, we not only want to create a safe and comfortable environment in schools, but also reach out to family, community, and digital spaces," said Abdul Mu'ti.
Director General of PAUD, Basic Education, and Non-Formal Education of the Ministry of Education and Culture, Gogot Suharwoto, explained that there were three main policies that began to be implemented in all schools, namely the implementation of MPLS Friendly 2026, strengthening the culture of safe and comfortable schools, and limiting the use of gadgets in the education unit environment.
According to him, these three policies are expected to create a more conducive learning atmosphere while minimizing the potential for bullying and violence against students.
Meanwhile, Minister of Empowerment of Women and Child Protection (PPPA) Arifah Fauzi invited all school members to build a culture of mutual respect and mutual protection so that bullying practices no longer occur.
