Prabowo: The Nation that Dominates Science and Technology Will Advance Rapidly

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that mastering science and technology is the main key to the progress of a nation. For this reason, the government strengthens investment in the education sector through the development of flagship schools, strengthening research, and cooperation with the world's best universities to produce human resources (HR) who are able to compete globally.

The commitment was conveyed by Prabowo when he received the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) at the Central Courtyard of the State Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday, August 6.

In his instructions, the President emphasized that the progress of a country is very determined by the ability to master science and technology. According to him, this mastery can only be achieved if supported by a strong education system.

"A nation that is able to master science and technology, that nation will advance rapidly. The key is science and technology," said Prabowo.

The President also reminded the government to be brave in looking at the national education situation objectively, including the various challenges that are still faced, so that the steps to improve it are targeted.

As an effort to improve the quality of education, the government is preparing the construction of flagship schools that will attract the best students from across Indonesia.

According to Prabowo, the school will use the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum so that it has standards equivalent to the best schools in the world. Thus, graduates of elite schools are expected to be able to compete globally and have greater opportunities to be accepted at international universities.

"I want to improve all schools, from the physical. We are also building flagship schools for the smartest children. In these flagship schools, we use the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum. It must be the same standard as the smartest in the world," said Prabowo.

In addition to building flagship schools, the President also encourages Indonesian universities to collaborate with the world's best universities.

The cooperation, said Prabowo, can be realized through various schemes, such as joint programs (joint programs) and other forms of partnerships, so that it can accelerate the improvement of the quality of higher education and national research.

"The second way, we invite the best universities in the world to work together with universities here, whether it's a joint program, whether it's a KSO. But this is a long-term investment," he said.

Prabowo assessed that investment in the fields of education and research is an important foundation for strengthening Indonesia's competitiveness in the future. Therefore, the government is committed to continuing to improve the quality of education, ranging from improving school facilities and infrastructure to expanding access to international standard education.

Through strengthening education, research, and mastery of technology, the government hopes that Indonesia will be able to produce superior generations that are ready to face global competition while encouraging transformation towards a developed country.
