Indonesian National Team Will Face Palestine On FIFA Matchday, Save The Date!

JAKARTA – The Indonesian national team (Timnas) will certainly compete against the Palestinian national team on the FIFA Matchday on June 14.

PSSI chairman Erick Thohir has confirmed the match. Palestine is also ready to face the Garuda squad.

"I have communicated with the President of the Palestinian Football Federation and they have agreed to the FIFA Matchday match on June 14, 2023," Erick said as quoted by the PSSI website.

The Palestinian Football Federation through Secretary General Firas Abu Hilal has also sent a reply letter to PSSI regarding their willingness to meet with Indonesia.

"They have also sent an official letter to PSSI regarding their willingness to hold a match," said the Minister for State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN).

Indonesia is scheduled to run a FIFA Matchday against Burundi on March 25 and 28 at the Patriot Stadium, Bekasi, West Java.

After that, there are still four more FIFA Matchdays that will be played by the Garuda troops. Against Palestine is the FIFA Matchday schedule that runs from 12 to 20 June.

Following after that September 4-12, October 9-17, and finally November 13-21. However, the opponents that will be faced after Palestine have not yet been announced.

"So PSSI has planned ahead of time to have a FIFA Matchday match. This is correct. PSSI secretariat continues to communicate with us for the next matches. If there are updates on other matches, we will notify you," said Erick.

Palestine is ranked 93 in the world, while Indonesia is in position 151. That ranking could have changed in the next match later.
