Juan Manuel Marquez Says Jake Paul Doesn't Respect Boxing

JAKARTA - Juan Manuel Marquez insists that YouTubers don't respect boxing and, although he admits Jake Paul is preparing and training as a fighter, he doesn't see him as a fighter in the world of boxing.

'El Dinamita' Marquez, champion in four categories in professional boxing, says boxers like himself, who have dedicated themselves to boxing since they were children, are not appreciated by those who came into this world overnight.

He emphasized, for YouTubers, this is a business and they are only looking for profit.

"I say it for Paul, a youtuber who is dedicated to traveling, is a fighter who I don't despise because he trains and prepares, but he is not a fighter like that, as he started as a child, as one started to learn boxing, classes, technique," Marquez explained in an interview on Espanol's ProBox TV channel, quoted by Marca, Wednesday.

Paul, who gained notoriety as a youtuber, has won five of his fights as a professional, but is often criticized because none of his opponents are top boxers, one of whom started boxing as a child, as El Dinamita did with his father and brother Rafael Marquez.

"I think somehow he doesn't respect the sport of boxing and boxing itself because you have to start as a kid," he added.

"He did well, but I think he lacked a lot.

"We started as kids, experience, we come from a boxing family".

Jake was previously scheduled to fight Hasim Rahman Jr on August 6, which is considered a real test for the youtuber. However, his opponent did not reach the agreed weight and the New York Commission did not allow it to happen.

"How long have you had your first professional fight?" asked Juan Manuel.

"I know it's business, it's very positive for them, that's why they are in boxing, they show a lack of respect and I want that to be proven against a boxer like Rahman Jr.
