Dustin Poirier Vs Michael Chandler Duel Close To Real, Just Wait For UFC Announcement

JAKARTA - The fight that UFC fans have been waiting for is Dustin Poirier versus Michael Chandler. And this could happen for UFC 281 next November 12 at Madison Square Garden in New York.

Ariel Helwani from MMA Fighting was the one who confirmed the fight. However, no one from the UFC organization has formalized the fight yet.

Poirier vs. Competition Chandler

As UFC 276 promotes 12 fights in the octagon, the fight in the elite light heavyweight division nearly erupts off the grid at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Dustin Poirier (ranked second) and Michael Chandler (ranked 5), got into a heated argument and almost faced each other.

The fight was recorded by Brazilian fighter Gilbert "Durinho" Burns, Chandler's training partner, in the VIP area of UFC 276.

In the video posted by the athlete on social networks, the audio is almost incomprehensible, but Poirier seems quite annoyed.

Surrounded by many, including UFC chief operating officer Hunter Campbell and corporate middleweight champion Jiri Prochazka, Poirier pointed at Chandler, calling him a "fake" and threatening to beat him up.

The two were then detained by security guards and Chandler was taken to another location.

The cause of the quarrel is unknown. And although both have expressed interest in fighting in the octagon, nothing has been announced by the UFC yet.

Poirier has not fought since last December, when he lost to Charles do Bronx in a lightweight belt fight.

Chandler also lost to the Brazilian in May 2021. However, after that he lost again to Justin Gaethje in November and won over Tony Ferguson in May.
