Luciano Spalletti Admits It Will Be Difficult For Napoli To Win The Scudetto Next Season

JAKARTA – The target that Napoli fans want for the club nicknamed the Partenopei to win the Italian League is felt difficult by coach Luciano Spalletti. Instead, he said Napoli would be difficult even if they only finished in the top four next season.

Quoted from Football Italy on Saturday, Spalletti said that currently, everyone expects Napoli to repeat their achievements last season, but it will not be easy.

"It's fairly new that the fans want the Scudetto, but it's not easy. It will be very difficult for us to finish in the top four, because we wouldn't have nine points above Juventus, or have a great distance with Roma and Lazio, if we did. like last year, we can fight with big teams," said Spalletti.

Last season, Napoli ended the season by occupying third place in the final standings with 79 points from 38 matches, seven points behind AC Milan who came out as champions.

This achievement also makes Napoli secure a Champions League position in the 2022/23 season after previously appearing in the highest caste of European football competition in the 2019/20 season.

"We got a good result, staying in the Champions League zone from start to finish. There were games where we should have done better, and that hurts," explained Spalletti.

Ahead of the new season, Napoli have lost Lorenzo Insigne and are in danger of being left by Dries Mertens whose contract expires at the end of the month.

In addition, some of their mainstay players last season such as Kalidou Koulibaly, Fabian Ruiz and Victor Osimhen now have their future with Napoli still in question.
