JAKARTA - Mitch Evans managed to become the champion in the ninth series of Formula E which was held in Jakarta, Saturday afternoon. Successfully occupying the main podium, Evans had shown signs of confusion because in this series the championship celebration was held without champagne.

After the handover of the trophy by President Joko Widodo, Evans and the team immediately drifted into the euphoria of victory. However, at the same time, the New Zealand racer looks like he is looking for something.

Apparently, Evans was looking for a bottle of champagne which is usually always present at every Formula E victory ceremony. However, because this series was held in Jakarta with a thick Eastern culture, the moment of spouting champagne was eliminated.

Evans, who realized that there was no champagne on the podium, immediately changed direction. In order to continue the euphoria of winning, he joked by making his trophy like a champagne bottle and swinging it at his colleagues and the audience.

Even without champagne on the podium, Evans' success still made the driver and team smile with relief for being the fastest and winning points.

Evans was crowned the 2022 Formula E champion in Jakarta after beating DS Techeetah's Jean-Eric Vergne who was 0.733 seconds slower than him. While the third position is occupied by ROKiT Venturi Racing racer, Edoardo Mortara.
