Southampton Up To 11th Position After Beating Brentford 4-1

JAKARTA - Southampton successfully climbed to eleventh in the 2021/2022 Premier League standings after beating Brentford 4-1. The slick moment was achieved by Ralph Hasenhutll's team in the postponed match week 18 at the St. Mary Stadium.

In the match which took place on Wednesday, January 12 early morning Indonesian Western Time (WIB), Southampton as the host managed to open the scoring first. Not only that, they were able to surprise the opponent with a goal created in the 4th minute by Danish defender Jan Bednarek who used bait from James Ward-Prowse.

Left behind by a goal, Brentford reacted to create a goal back which made the score 1-1. The first goal for Brentford was made through the execution of Vitaly Janelt in the 23rd minute.

After giving the visitors a chance to catch up, Southampton hit the gas again to score more goals. Luck this time in favor of the hosts, because the goal was created again but this time through an own goal by a Brentford player in the 37th minute.

The goal contribution for Southampton came from Ibrahima Diallo's kick outside the penalty box. The ball that bounced off the post and hit the hand of goalkeeper Alvaro Fernandez actually went into the Brentford net and made it 2-1 for the hosts' advantage and lasted until halftime.

In the second half, Southampton again attacked the visitors' defense. They continue to play with a pressing pattern that bears fruit in the extra moments. Southampton again listed the names of other players on the scoreboard.

This time the goal turned 3-1 through the execution of striker Armando Broja when the second half had only been running for four minutes. The goal was made by Broja by utilizing a breakthrough bait released by Oriol Romeo by firing a shot into the corner of the Brentford goal.

Southampton's closing goal in the early hours of this morning was clearly a crushing blow for Brentford who had to go home with a 1-4 defeat. Before the game was over, The Bers' goal was torn apart by the execution of Che Adams in the 70th minute.

With this victory, Southampton is temporarily ranked 11th in the Premier League standings with 24 points from 20 matches. Meanwhile, his opponent, Brentford, is still stuck in 13th position with 23 points.
