After Being Defeated By Indonesia, Malaysia Coach Tan Cheng Hoe Is Threatened With Expulsion

JAKARTA - Malaysia's national team coach, Tan Cheng Hoe is in danger of being sacked after the Malayan tigers were crushed 4-1 by Indonesia on Sunday which resulted in them failing to qualify for the 2020 AFF Cup semifinals.

The continuation of Cheng Hoe's career is on the brink. Reporting from Malaysian media, Berita Harian, it was rumored that Cheng Hoe would be dismissed following the pressure from their own supporters.

The Vice President of the Malaysian Football Federation (FAM), Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mahadi, said it was reasonable. According to him, Cheng Hoe's fate will be determined by the National Team Management Committee.

"It (the pressure to change coaches) usually happens every time a team loses. However, we did not pay attention and we left it to the National Team Management Committee to decide when the report was submitted at the committee meeting later", said Mohd Yusoff.

Yusoff then also said the decision to fire the coach could not be taken by one party. Therefore, he gave Cheng Hoe time to prepare a work report which would later be presented.

"We will ask the coach to prepare a report and I myself will prepare a report as a manager to be brought and presented to the meeting before further action is taken", said Mohd Yusoff.

Furthermore, Yusoff said that the defeat that Malaysia received in the final match of the 2020 AFF Cup group stage made many parties disappointed.

"Overall, I am disappointed with the result and it caused us not to reach our target to qualify for the final", said Yusoff.

Yusoff also admitted that other teams, including Indonesia, performed well in this competition, he said that all teams had prepared very well to reap satisfactory results.

"If we look at some of the teams that competed this time, they did prepare better than us", he said.

It is known that in a meeting at the National Stadium, Singapore two days ago, Malaysia lost 4-1 through braces by Irfan Jaya, Paratama Arhan, and Elkan Baggott.
