The PBSI Confirms Indonesia Will Not Participate In Three Tournaments In India 2022

JAKARTA - Important news was shared by the Central Board of the Indonesian Badminton Association (PP PBSI) regarding Indonesia's participation in the 2022 tournament calendar.

The PBSI confirmed that Indonesia will not participate in the three tournament agendas which will be held in India in January 2022.

The PBSI said Indonesia would not send representatives to the India Open, Syed Modi International, and Odisha Open tournaments. There are several factors that underlie the PBSI not sending representatives in the tournament calendar.

In an official statement received by VOI, Sunday, December 19, it was revealed that the reason PBSI did not include Indonesia was that they felt that the players' performance would not be optimal. This is because the players have participated in various championships from September to December.

The India Open is a Super 500 level tournament that will be held on 11-16 January. Then there is the Syed Modi International which is a super 300 level championship that will be held from 18-23 January and followed by the Odisha Open which is a super 100 level tournament as a closing tournament that will be held on 25-30 January.

Apart from considering the performance of players who feel that they will be exhausted if forced to participate, PBSI has other reasons. This time it was a matter of preparation which was considered not to be optimal.

This is because there is a year-end holiday agenda starting on December 18, which makes the residents of the PBSI national training repatriated so that automatically the players' training sessions cannot be maximized.

Not only that, but in January 2022, the national training players will also certainly not have the usual training facilities. This is because the PBSI will hold a national selection at the Cipayung National Training Center which will be attended by players from 34 provinces to compete.

The next reason is that the PBSI does not see an opportunity for Indonesia to bring home the championship title in the three competitions. Fatigue, technique, and focus factors that are definitely not perfect are the main triggers.

With the decision not to participate in the three tournament agendas in India later, the PBSI hopes that this moment will provide a pause for the players to rest for physical and mental recovery.
