Spanish Federation Issues Temporary Delayed Party Schedule For Copa Del Rey

Six Copa del Rey 2024/2025 matches were postponed after flash floods hit Valencia Province on Tuesday, October 29, 2024.

The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) had issued a new schedule. However, they then rescheduled for the second time because recovery efforts continued in the region.

The Copa del Rey first round matches, including Parla Escuela vs Valencia and Pontevedra vs Levante, were originally scheduled to take place last week, before a devastating flash flood killed at least 217 people.

In the first rescheduling, the matches were initially shifted to until this week.

However, the RFEF confirmed on Monday, November 4, 2024, that the match would be postponed even longer until the end of this month.

The reason is that emergency and military services are still trying to restore and reconstruct in a number of locations around Valencia.

Apart from the Copa del Rey, the RFEF will also reschedule the postponed La Liga party.

The La Liga match between Valencia vs Real Madrid and Villarreal vs. Rayo Vallecano in week 12 which was supposed to be played Sunday, November 3, 2024, will also be rescheduled. RFEF has not confirmed when the two parties will be held again.

Flash floods hit Valencia after being hit by Hurricane Dana resulted in the loss of many lives and damage to houses, businesses, and transportation networks.

A number of Spanish club players and coaches argue that all football matches in Matador Country were supposed to be postponed over the weekend, including Carlo Ancelotti of Real Madrid.
