The Defendant Is A Wife Killer In Makassar Who Is Buried Behind The House Sentenced To Life In Prison

JAKARTA - The Makassar District Court (PN) sentenced the defendant Hengki (43) to life for killing his wife with the initials JU and then hoarding behind his house on Jalan Kandea II, Bontala District, Makassar City, South Sulawesi.

"Declaring that Hengki is legally and convincingly proven to have committed a premeditated murder crime. Sentencing the defendant to life imprisonment," said Makassar District Court Chief Justice Sutisna as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, November 5.

According to the panel of judges, the aggravating thing for the defendant was that his actions were troubling the public, his actions were committed against his wife, had intercourse with the victim twice and the defendant tried to hide the victim's body behind his house, while there was no mitigating factor.

The verdict handed down is heavier than the demands of the public prosecutor for 20 years in prison. Defendant Hengki was found guilty of committing a criminal act of premeditated murder of his wife.

Defendant's adviser Vivi Bhayangkara previously stated that he would immediately coordinate with the defendant and asked for time to think about the next legal steps whether to appeal or accept, considering that the panel of judges gave the defendant the right to accept the verdict or think about it for seven days.

"We will coordinate first, think about it first," he said, greeted by an agreement by the defendant and said he was thinking about the verdict.

Previously, the defendant asked for leniency on the prosecution's request for 20 years in prison. He joked that the murder was never planned and even provided honest information and was polite during the trial process.

The murder case was revealed after two of the suspect's children could not stand it because they experienced allegations of violence, threats and silencing for six years so as not to tell their actions.

The victim's son then reported to the police because he admitted to having experienced violence, so that he said his mother was beaten by his father to death and then his body was buried behind the house in August 2018.

To clarify the case, the police carried out reconstruction at the scene with 51 scenes of torture up to the murder of the victim.
