Minister of Health encourages technology innovation to strengthen health services

JAKARTA - The transformation of health services does not only depend on medical personnel, but is also supported by the development of modern health equipment, laboratory, and diagnostic systems.

The presence of innovation in the health sector plays an important role in accelerating the diagnosis of diseases, improving the accuracy of examinations, and expanding public access to higher quality medical services.

The need for sophisticated health tools continues to increase in line with the government's efforts to strengthen the national health system. Technologies such as precision diagnostic devices, automated laboratories, and digital-based health services are an important part of facing the challenges of health services in the future.

The Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, Budi Gunadi Sadikin, emphasized that health transformation requires the support of innovation and collaboration from various parties.

"Health transformation cannot be done by the government alone. It requires collaboration with industry, academia, health workers, and all stakeholders so that the people of Indonesia can access quality, equitable, and technology-supported health services that are increasingly advanced," said Health Minister Budi Gunadi when opening the IndoHealthcare Gakeslab Expo 2026 at JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta, Wednesday, August 5, 2026.

The development of health technology is a means to strengthen the resilience of the national health equipment industry. In addition to improving the quality of service to patients, innovations produced in the country are expected to reduce dependence on imported products while strengthening Indonesia's competitiveness at the global level.

In the midst of rapid development of health technology, IndoHealthcare Gakeslab Expo 2026 is one of the events that brings together health equipment, laboratory, regulator, academic, and health workers from various countries. The exhibition, which took place on August 5-7, 2026 at JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta, presented around 60 companies from nine countries, namely Indonesia, China, Singapore, South Korea, India, Japan, Germany, Malaysia, and Pakistan.

The various innovations on display include precision diagnostic tools, modern laboratory equipment, high-tech medical devices, to digital health solutions that support telemedicine and remote health services.

CEO of Krista Exhibitions Group, Daud D. Salim said that the holding of this exhibition is a form of commitment to strengthen the ecosystem of the health equipment industry in Indonesia.

"Through various educational programs that we have organized, we hope that this exhibition can accelerate technology transfer, expand business networks, and encourage the birth of innovations that support the independence and competitiveness of the Indonesian medical device industry in the global market," explained Daud D. Salim.

In addition to presenting technological innovations, this exhibition is also enlivened by various scientific activities aimed at improving the competence of health workers. Various seminars, talkshows, workshops, and industry presentations bring together regulators, academics, health practitioners, and industry players to share knowledge about the latest developments in health technology.

The resource person comes from various institutions, including the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, the Ministry of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia, Cellcure by Dr. Terawan, and PT Sysmex Indonesia together with the PATELKI-LPPP Training Institute of the Main Medical Laboratory which held a National Workshop with the theme "In-Depth XN-L Series Hematology Analyzer User Training Class".

Not only focusing on technology, this activity also provides direct benefits to the community through free dental examination social service organized by the Indonesian Dental Association (PDGI).

In addition, PDGI held talkshows and webinars which were attended by around 170 dentists as part of the development of professional competence through the acquisition of Professional Credit Units (SKP).

The series of activities also featured a session on Home of Authentic Shaolin Traumatology with Dr. Anthony Toh from Singapore, as well as scientific presentations from the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Padjadjaran which discussed the latest innovations in the world of health and dentistry.

Through collaboration between the government, health workers, academics, and industry, the development of health technology is expected to accelerate the transformation of the national health system. Innovation not only presents more modern tools, but also opens up opportunities for more equitable, accurate, and quality health services for the Indonesian people.
