Shin Tae-yong Says The National Team Can Win Against Vietnam If They Look Impressive

JAKARTA - The Indonesian national team coach, Shin Tae-Yong expressed optimism ahead of the match against Vietnam in the group phase of the AFF Cup 2020. He said that if the Garuda squad could look as impressive as they did against Laos, victory over Vietnam could definitely be won.

"If we continue to play impressively like that (against Laos), Indonesia can even win the next match (against Vietnam)", said Shin Tae-Yong during an online press conference, Tuesday, December 14.

The Indonesian national team is scheduled to meet Vietnam at Bishan Stadium, Wednesday. Ahead of the match, the national team has pocketed a slick capital.

The current Garuda squad has even succeeded in topping the Group B standings with a total of six points. The good result was achieved by the national team after winning the first two matches against Cambodia and Laos.

With this good record, Shin Tae-yong is sure that his team can appear more confident against Vietnam. The South Korean coach also said that with capital and hard work the national team could beat all competitors.

"I look forward to the performance of the players against Malaysia or Vietnam. We believe we can beat all competitors", he continued.

Ahead of the meeting with Vietnam, the national team was considered a less challenging underdog team. In Group B, Malaysia and Vietnam are the underdog teams.

Regarding that assumption, Shin Tae-yong didn't want to bother. Because according to him in the world of football anything is possible, especially if the team is willing to work hard.

"Everyone says that Vietnam and Malaysia will be the two teams that will qualify from this group. However, in football nothing is impossible, especially when we come with passion and hard work", said the coach.
