BYD Electric Supercar Caught On A Speeding Camera In Nurburgring, Want To Break The Rimac Nevera Record?

JAKARTA - Electric Supercar BYD Yangwang U9 was caught on camera being tested at the Nurburgring Nordschleife circuit, Germany. This exotic design model looks speeding up with a camouflage sticker.

Launching CarBuzz, Tuesday, July 2, the car was caught on camera through the CarSpyMedia Youtube channel channel channel. This raises the question why the supercar was wrapped in camouflage considering that Yangwang U9 has been disclosed to the public. However, in this image catch, it shows that the car is speeding up and braking optimally.

In addition, it is still unclear why BYD is testing this supercar on the legendary trajectory. It is possible that this Chinese manufacturer intends to break the record for the fastest round of Rimac Nevera as the fastest EV.

In mid-2023, Rimac Nevera set a record as Nurburgring's fastest production electric car with a record time of 7:05,298 driven by Croatian racer Martin Kodric.

Speaking of performance, BYD Yangwang U9 is equipped with four electric motors with 1,287 dk and a torque of 1,680 Nm or smaller than Rimac Nevera reaching 1,888 dk and a torque of 2,360 Nm.

Previously, the acceleration of Yangwang U9 was claimed by BYD from 0 to 100 km/hour to 2.36 seconds with the highest speed of 309 km/hour. Meanwhile, this rival from Croatia obtained it in just 1.82 seconds with the top speed breaking 412 km/hour.

However, Yangwang U9 has a uniqueness such as using the Blade lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) battery adoption developed by BYD.

The battery has a capacity of 80 kWh capable of providing a range of up to 465 km according to CLTC standards. The system also supports 500 kW of fast charging and double charging simultaneously.

Yangwang U9 is equipped with the Disus X smart suspension system developed by BYD. This system allows cars to maneuver agilely, including "dancing" and traveling with only three wheels.

Now, the car has been sold in the Chinese market at a price of 1.68 million yuan (IDR 3.7 billion). BYD will send the Yangwang U9 unit in mid-2024.
