Toyota Registers 'Hilux Travo' Trademark For Latest Generation Hilux

JAKARTA - The current generation of Toyota Hilux is entering the age of ten years and has several facelifts in recent years. Because of its old age, this pickup model requires significant refreshment.

Rumors are like that tough pickups will be present in the latest generation. Well, the latest news shows this pickup will carry the name Hilux Travo.

Carscoops reported on Thursday, January 2, a 'Hilux Travo' trademark was submitted on December 23, 2024, to Thailand's Intellectual Property Department.

The naming 'Travo' itself will be the end of the ninth generation for the Thai market, following Hilux Revo in the eighth generation and Hilux Vigo in the seventh generation. But in some outer markets, the pickup is only marketed under the name Hilux.

Although the Japanese manufacturer is still silent about the detailed information, Hilux's latest generation is expected to make its debut by 2025.

In previous rumors, Hilux is rumored to be coming with engines more powerful than ever and carrying the latest 224 kW-powered 4-cylinder 2.0 liter turbocharged.

The engine that will be installed in the Hilux car comes from the latest 4-cylinder family exhibited last May during Toyota's commitment to developing carbon-free machines with Mazda and Subaru.

It is reported that the machine can provide light acceleration when it first steps on the gas and does not experience turbo lag, so the car runs smoothly and fun to drive.

However, Toyota will also consider maintaining an iconic 2.8 liter diesel 4-cylinder engine powered by both a mid-hybrid and non-mild hybrid system as before.
