Nismo's Future Plan Will Present Many EVs, Sports Cars, And High Performance SUVs

JAKARTA - It is no secret that the development of electric vehicles (EVs) is taking place very quickly. In the future, this segment will certainly expand not only for urban or daily needs, but also for performance vehicles.

The Division in charge of designing Nissan's high-performance car, NISMO, confirmed that it will bring more EVs in the future after the high-performance version of Ariya's presence earlier this year.

Senior Nissan Vice President and Chief Planning Officer Africa, Middle East, India, Europe, and Oceania Francois Bally, said that it will present more high-performance vehicles in the form of electrification.

"Merek, we want to make it big. Continue to talk about EVs and NISMOs? We will present no problems," said Bally, quoted from Drive, Saturday, June 1.

It is hoped that the products they present are not just cosmetic changes, but rather the philosophy of this sub-brand with an increase in energy, larger tires, and more reliable suspensions.

However, the Japanese brand realizes that a product like GT-R and Z is loved by several automotive observers so that they are trying to keep the sport-style car in the electrification era.

"We are very happy, and we need to continue to apply electrification, build a technical block, and the latest sports car will materialize," added Bally.

NISMO also opens up opportunities to present a high-performance version of the SUV or crossover in the future considering that the car has high enthusiasts because it prioritizes practicality.

"As a company, we have limited resources, so you choose to electrify the product lineup, and choose to develop the new technology needed so that you have the credibility to make these sports cars," explained Bally.

Currently, the division sells a number of models labeled NISMO globally ranging from GT-R, Micra, Note, Skyline, and Ariya as the only high-performance EVs sold on the market. Furthermore, the manufacturer also has sporty-style Patrol for the Middle East market.
