Flagship Schools Use IB Curriculum, Prabowo Aims to Graduate from the Best Universities in the World

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto plans to build a flagship school with an International Baccalaureate or IB curriculum. The school is prepared for high-achieving students to be able to compete for admission to the world's best universities.

The plan was conveyed by Prabowo when he received BRIN Head Arif Satria and researchers at the Presidential Palace Complex, Thursday, August 6.

Prabowo said the government would select children with the best ability to study at elite schools.

"We are also building flagship schools for the smartest children. We can select," said Prabowo.

The IB curriculum is an international education system used in various countries and emphasizes critical thinking, research, and global academic standards.

According to Prabowo, the curriculum of the flagship schools must be equivalent to the best educational institutions in the world.

"He has to be to the same standard as the smartest in the world," he said.

The government hopes that graduates of the school can be accepted and complete their education at the world's top universities.

In addition to building flagship schools, Prabowo wants to invite foreign universities to work with universities in Indonesia.

The cooperation can take the form of joint programs or operational cooperation. However, he admitted that this step is a long-term investment.

Prabowo also wants to improve the physical condition of schools throughout Indonesia. He assessed that education was the basis for mastering science and technology.

"To achieve the level of innovation, breakthroughs, discoveries, patents, and so on, the basis is education," he said.

Prabowo said that countries that control science and technology can advance faster. Therefore, education is considered the most important part in preparing researchers and skilled workers.
