JAKARTA - During the 2024 Auto China event, Mercedes-Benz further strengthened its commitment to the Chinese market by presenting a series of new models and leading technology capabilities.

The key element of this strategy is the expansion of the existence of R&D (Research and Development) Mercedes-Benz in China. They have just opened a new building at the Shanghai Research & Development Center. This facility is equipped with advanced hardware and software designed to accelerate digital innovation.

"China is our most important market and an important technology center for the global automotive industry. China is also a pioneer of technological innovation and future trends. That is why we continue to invest in China, expand our R&D and industrial footprint, and accelerate transformation towards electrification, digitization, and carbon neutrality," said Ola Kryptlenius, Chair of the Mercedes-Benz Group AG Management Board, in the company's media space, quoted April 29.

Mercedes-Benz are strengthening its innovation network in China with a new building in their R&D Center in Shanghai. This new facility will be combined with two R&D centers in Beijing to encourage the development of connectivity, digitization, and automated driving features.

In collaboration with local partners, Mercedes-Benz will continue to increase investment and provide the best customer experience through superior digital experience. To achieve this, the new R&D Center will focus on five main fields:

"Our R&D team in China is making a significant contribution to our rapid progress in AI, autonomous driving, and cutting-edge software in the world's largest car market. The strong presence of R&D in China will continue to push our ambition to lead the industry in electric vehicles and car software," added Markus Sch wayfer, Member of the Mercedes-Benz Group AG Management Board, Chief Technology Officer.
