JAKARTA - Legendary Irish band U2 has just released a song titled Street of Dreams, which is the first single from their first full-length studio album in nine years.

Even though the first single has officially aired, U2 still chose to keep the title and the exact release date for their latest album a secret.

Launching Variety, the management only gave a clue that this full album is sure to greet fans in 2026.

However, given the momentum, September is predicted to be the most logical time for the launch of a new album. The reason is that U2 will celebrate its 50th anniversary since its first formation in September 1976.

In addition to being released through digital music platforms, U2 also launched the music video "Street of Dreams" which was worked on by Cliqua with a backdrop in Mexico City.

The filming process caught the public's attention in May, when the U2 members were caught on camera performing on a school bus covered in graffiti by Mexican local artist Chavis Mármol.

Interestingly, while in Mexico, U2 also took the time to attend the 2026 Street Child World Cup final tournament held at Parque Ecológico Lago de Texcoco.

The strong influence of local culture is even directly expressed in the song "Street of Dreams" which slips in a few lines in Spanish.

The upcoming album will be U2's first full new song collection since they released "Songs of Experience" in December 2017.

Although they had launched the album "Songs of Surrender" in 2023, the album only contained a re-recording of their 40 old songs packaged with a more minimalist acoustic arrangement.

Throughout 2026, U2 has actually been quite productive by releasing two conceptual mini-albums (EP), namely "Days of Ash" in February and "Easter Lily" in April.

However, the band insists that the total of 12 songs on both EPs are purely separate projects and will not be included in the track list on their latest full-length album.
