JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) has prepared a budget of around Rp1 trillion to revitalize Gambir Station, Jakarta.

The project, which is targeted to be completed in 2028, will carry a new concept by making Gambir Station as the 'center of Monas' while presenting a more memorable travel experience for customers.

KAI President Director Bobby Rasyidin said the revitalization budget prepared to carry out the Gambir Station revitalization project was sourced from KAI's pocket. Revitalization will begin at the end of this year.

"(The budget prepared) Rp1 trillion. That is the KAI's budget because this is a pure business," he said on his way to use the Tourist Train from Yogyakarta to Jakarta, Wednesday, July 8.

Bobby said, revitalization is not only focused on improving train transportation services.

According to him, Gambir Station will also be developed as a public space that allows the public to enjoy the panorama of Monas.

"We will make Gambir Station the core of the stage we call Monas," he said.

According to Bobby, there has never been a public space that has really become a point of view to enjoy Monas. Therefore, the new face of Gambir Station will be designed so that visitors can experience a different experience while in the area.

"Monas is the stage of Indonesia. Where is the thread? There is none. Those who sit can look at Monas now there is none. For this we will make Gambir as an in-journey experience. Customers who come not only ride the train, but also enjoy Monas," he said.

Bobby said the development of Gambir was also part of the arrangement of the Monas area.

He said, Monas as a national public space that is a place for people to gather, travel, and be active.

In this context, Gambir is prepared as an arrival terrace that connects intercity travel, daily mobility, urban transportation, public spaces, culinary, retail, and customer service in one more organized area.

"Monas is a very important public space for the community. Gambir is right near the area. So Gambir has to be a good terrace for people who come, go, change modes, and enjoy the center of Jakarta," said Bobby.
