WEST SUMATRA - As many as eight workers installing a network cable pole for a cellular phone operator were electrocuted in Jorong Sariak Laweh, Nagari Nan Tujuah, Palupuah, Agam Regency, West Sumatra.

"Eight people were reported to have been electrocuted while working to install network cables, reportedly because the pole they installed hit the PLN cable, one person died," said Nagari Wali Nan Tujuah, Tarmizi in Agam, Antara, Monday, November 1.

According to him, the workers installed poles in the rice fields in the rain at around 17.30 western Indonesia time, last Sunday.

"The pole they installed collapsed and the cable touched the medium-voltage cable belonging to PLN so that all workers were exposed to electricity," said Tarmizi.

It is known that the installation of the cable pole was carried out around the Bukittinggi-Medan Km 32 causeway carried out by a company and the workers consisted of residents of Indramayu, West Java.

According to Tarmizi, all the victims were rushed to the nearest health center and hospital for medical action to save the lives of the victims.

"Including the driver, all were taken to the Puskesmas and some were rushed to the Hospital in Bukittinggi," said Tarmizi.

Tarmizi said this accident has also been handled by the police from the Palupuah Police. The victim who died was identified as Kadinah (36) with the address according to the ID card of Sukra Wetan Village, Indramayu Regency, West Java.
