4 People Buried By Landslide Material In Bangli Bali, Road Access Can Be Passed Through Lake Batur

BALI - The Head of the Bali Province Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) I Made Rentin said, as many as four people were buried by material in the Trunyan area, Bangli Regency, due to an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.8 on Saturday, September 16 at around 04.18 central Indonesia time.

"In addition, we also received initial information that there was one resident in Karangasem Regency who had a broken bone," said Rentin confirmed from Denpasar as quoted by Antara, Saturday morning.

Rentin and his staff are currently heading to the location of the buried residents in the Trunyan area, Bangli Regency.

"The victim who is buried is still being searched. Information from our colleagues, from the four people who were buried, only one person was rescued and is still conscious," he said.

Rentin added that access by land could not be done to the location of the incident in Trunyan and could only be via Lake Batur.

Meanwhile, based on a written statement by the Head of BMKG Regional III Denpasar, Agus Wahyu Raharjo, the tectonic earthquake had a magnitude of 4.8 with the epicenter located at coordinates 8.32° South Latitude; 115.45° East Longitude, or to be precise, located on land at a distance of 8 kilometers northwest of Karangasem, Bali, at a depth of 10 kilometers.

"By taking into account the location of the epicenter and the depth of the hypocenter, the earthquake that occurred was a shallow earthquake caused by local fault activity," he said.

As of 04.42 central Indonesia time, BMKG monitoring results showed that there were two aftershock activities with a magnitude of 3.8 (felt in Karangasem III MMI) and a magnitude of 2.7.

The Head of the BMKG Earthquake Mitigation Division, Daryono, in his written statement added, by paying attention to the source of the earthquake in Bali with a magnitude of 4.8, it appears that the earthquake occurred due to local active fault/fault activity, not due to the Flores Rising Fault activity.
