JAKARTA - President Director of Perumda PAM Jaya Arief Nasrudin targets the construction of 13 communal reservoirs or giant reservoirs by the end of 2024.

Currently, there are six points in Jakarta where communal reservoirs have been built, namely in Duri Kepa, Duri Kosambi, Marunda, Taman Sari, Semanan, and Rorotan.

Communal reservoirs are built with the aim of distributing clean water to the community to remain stable in areas that are difficult to reach by piped clean water or areas with low water pressure.

"With the communal reservoir, it has an impact on increasing the pressure of water supply to existing customers and for potential new customer services," said Arief in his statement, Thursday, December 19.

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is targeting piped clean water services of up to 2 million customers and layer coverage to reach 100 percent by 2030.

As of June 2024, PAM Jaya is recorded to have served around 941,341 customers in Jakarta or around 46.69 percent of the target.

Thus, in order to ensure that the water received by the community remains of quality amid the expansion of the PAM Jaya piping connection, it also builds communal reservoirs.

"We are committed to ensuring the availability of quality clean water for Jakarta residents. Various priority efforts, such as building communal reservoirs," he said.

More specifically, communal reservoirs are water reservoirs built close to settlements far from the main source of PAM Jaya's water treatment plant (IPA).

Furthermore, water that has been accommodated in the reservoir will be pumped into residents' homes so that customers who are far from the water management location can receive enough water.
