JAKARTA - Metro Jaya Police raided an online loan office (Pinjol) in the Tangerang area. This raid was the result of the attention of the National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, regarding the eradication of illegal loans.

"That's right, today's raid", said the Head of Public Relations of the Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Yusri Yunus, to reporters, Thursday, October 14.

The borrowed office that was raided was in the Green Lake City area, Ruko Crown Blok C1-7, Tangerang. However, Yusri did not comment further on the raid. He said it would be presented in court later.

"It will be released at 13.00 WIB at the crime scene (TKP)", Yusri briefly said.

National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, has instructed all police officers to take firm action against illegal online loan providers (Pinjol), or peer-to-peer lending (fintech P2P lending) financial technology that has harmed the public.

This decisive action, said Sigit, was also a direct instruction from Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), who paid special attention to Pinjol's crime. This is because it has harmed the community, especially in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Illegal online loan crime is very detrimental to the community so special handling steps are needed. Take efforts to eradicate it with Pre-emptive, Preventive, and Repressive strategies", said Sigit

Before Tangerang, the police also uncovered the illegal activity of online loans at a shophouse in Sedayu Square, West Jakarta. A total of 56 people involved were arrested by the Central Jakarta Metro Police Special Criminal Investigation officer.

Based on police investigations, the shophouse was allegedly the site of terror acts by employees against illegal borrowers, debtors, fintech (financial technology).

In the action, those who are caught are considered to be disturbing the community because they often threaten the safety of the borrowers.
